On Friday 29th November 2013, we supported the Elise for Life ‘Thanks a million’ celebration. The celebration was a thank you to all who had contributed and helped achieve, and exceed the £1 million fund-raising target for The Christie hospital.
We were happy to sponsor the tables and provide table centres and two pedestal arrangements to show our support for Mark Roberts the Co-Founder of the Elise of Life Appeal.
The evening was held at the Gorton Monastery with 150 guests who had shown their support and helped them achieve their target by doing incredible things such as conquering the epic Kilimanjaro mountain and walking the great wall of China.
Guests were welcomed at a champagne reception followed by a mouth watering three course meal. Speakers included Dr Paul Lorigan, a key opinion leader in malignant melanoma cancer who is based at The Christie hospital followed by Alan Chambers MBE a polar adventurer and motivational speaker.
The evening was hosted by Key 103 breakfast host, Chelsea Norris and music by the ‘Kings of Rhythm’. The night also had a raffle in aid of the new Challenge for Life, national cancer charity where guests won a fabulous trip to Iceland as well as a weekend trip to London.
In 2010, Elise Roberts, age 37, was given the devastating news that she had stage 4 malignant melanoma (a form of skin cancer). As well as battling her own illness Elise established ‘Elise for Life’, a fundraising appeal to raise £1 million for The Christie where she was receiving treatment. The Elise for Life charity is a lasting tribute and legacy to Elise, an inspirational, courageous and determined person.
